Welcoming Everyone: Accessibility at the paranaple Convention Centre

At the paranaple Convention Centre, accessibility isn’t just a feature, it’s a core value. Our mission is to ensure every guest, regardless of ability, feels welcome, comfortable, and empowered to participate fully in every event. This commitment was on full display during the recent Disability Conference and Expo, where hundreds gathered to connect, learn, and celebrate inclusivity in Tasmania.

Wheelchair-friendly access is available from the car park to our centre with designated disabled parking bays located throughout. The main convention centre floor features step-free access, with lift and escalator access and wide corridors. Each floor also has an accessible toilet. The venue boasts a lot of natural light, accompanied with high contrast lighting and LED signage to support guests with low vision. Hearing loops are available in the meeting rooms and the convention floor.

Our catering team is experienced in handling a wide range of dietary requirements, including gluten-free, vegan, halal, kosher, and allergen-free options.

The recent Disability Conference and Expo at the paranaple Convention Centre showcased our commitment to accessibility. The event organisers introduced a Sensory Hour, providing a calm, low-stimulation environment by lowering noise and dimming lights -something we are always happy to accommodate for any event upon request. Throughout the expo, attendees benefited from accessible facilities, clear signage, and a supportive atmosphere.

We know accessibility is a journey, not a destination. The paranaple Convention Centre regularly reviews its facilities and procedures, seeking feedback from guests and working with local organisations to identify areas for improvement.
